HOT-SWAP STORAGE

The Jonsbo N2 Mini-ITX PC case has been crafted as a NAS server chassis. There is a dedicated chamber with five bays for 3.5” HDDs. These interface with a server-grade backplate that features hot-swappable technology, making it easier for you to install, remove, and replace drives. Each connector has 10um gold plating for enhanced durability and long-life capacitors to provide a stable power supply.

In addition to this, the Jonsbo N2 features a 2.5” SSD tray in the motherboard compartment, facilitating ultra-fast storage as well as high-capacity drives.

COOLING

To keep your hardware at optimum temperatures, the Jonsbo N2 has integrated cooling. The front panel features a mesh ventilation grill hidden behind a stylish hatching pattern. What’s more, a slim 120mm fan comes pre-installed on the rear panel, behind the storage backplate. This fan has been optimised to provide ideal static pressure and airflow whilst remaining whisper-quiet. Plus, there is clearance for a CPU cooler up to 65mm tall.

ADDITIONAL HARDWARE

The Jonsbo N2 has been crafted to act as a NAS server but can also be used as a Mini-ITX home theatre PC or for light gaming. The motherboard chamber can hold standard sized Mini-ITX boards, measuring 170mm by 170mm. There is even a half height PCI expansion slot which can support low profile GPUs up to 197mm long. Alternatively, this slot can be utilised for capture cards and other PCI devices. For providing power, there is space for an SFX PSU.

CUBE-ULAR

The Jonsbo N2 is a cube PC case, with an overall volume of 11L and a classic black finish. The base is equipped with non-slip feet to provide grip and natural airflow to the underside of the chassis. To facilitate great connectivity, the front panel has an I/O panel featuring a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, USB 3.0, and a combined headphone/microphone jack.

Overall Very Good

Recently built Unraid NAS with this case and overall this is a very good case and building experience.

Used a Noctua NH-L9x65 Air Cooler and there is still some space to the roof of the case so no problems there. Drive bays are easily accessible and are installed via some rubber guides that screw on to the HDDs themselves which should provide some good anti vibration to the drives.

The back case fan seems good enough but I swapped it out for a Noctua (low profile) fan, also ensure that you plug the fan directly to the motherboard (if you can) rather than the case PCB so you can control the speed of this fan.

There are some cons to the case which may affect your building experience. There is very little space between the back fan and the SATA connections on the case PCB meaning you pretty much have to use low profile angled SATA cables otherwise there will be some serious bending on the cable and connector.

When placing the fully built and running case on my wooden desk there was a very noticeable mid-high frequency emanating throughout the desk which means the non-slip/anti-vibration pad on the base of the case were insufficient (at least for me) even though the case itself didn't feel like it was vibration. As soon as I placed some rubber extension feet in four corners of the case the NAS was completely silent.
